Sample Questions on Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology and Historical Linguistics
The questions on the second exam will be similar to the questions on the first exam. There will be a matching problem that assesses your knowledge of the basic concepts, and a problem for each chapter in phonology, morphology and historical linguistics. These problems will resemble the homework exercises. You should use phonetic terms such as voicing, place and manner of articulation in your answers to these problems. You should be familiar enough with the material that was discussed in class to be able to work each problem without doing extensive searching in the text. I recommend looking over the following problems:

The exam will be an open book, open note exam. I will not test your ability to repeat definitions of basic terms, but will test your ability to use linguistic terms to analyze language data.
